Observation
Putting together a hospital bag for labor and delivery is a lot like assembling my husband's mobility bag before an inspection.
Maybe I'll throw a brown t-shirt or two in there for good measure.
On that note, for those of you have done this before, what non-obvious item proved indispensable or what was an item you wished you had packed that you did not?

Honestly? I found that I packed way too much (I still kind of had fun getting the birth bag all ready, though :). I didn't even think about using anything I brought during labor, although after everything was done I was really glad I'd packed some snacks.

The only stuff I actually used in my labor bag were my toiletries and slippers. And the outfit/diaper for Noah's day going home. But circumstances were that the bulk of my labor was at home, so it may have been different otherwise.
My birthing center had a snack kitchen that you could raid at all hours, so we had access to food right away. And then we had some really good room service there as well, and I could order whatever I wanted during the day. I'd check out what your food situation will be so you can make sure you have something tasty, either there or brought from home.
The only things I really wanted were lip balm and hand lotion. I suggest Burt's Bees as the scent isn't too strong but welcome with all the icky hospital smells.
Thank you, everyone!
